This villa is located at the bottom of an existing suburban garden. Concrete retaining walls make up the bottom of the structure, embracing a timber platform and an upper timber volume screened in bamboo rods, containing the main living spaces.
The timber volume consists of two light, narrow prefabricated “boxes” spanning the length of the house. They were hoisted into place, reducing the on-site rigging costs as well as the total material consumption.
Areas for the six children are on the top floor, and the adults at the bottom. The house is small, but the centrally located common living spaces nonetheless make it spacious.
