About the position

The Oslo School of Architecture and Design calls for applications for a four year 40% position as Assistant Professor in architectural design. The position is placed in the Subject Matter studio series.

The Institute of Architecture acknowledges the fundamental diversity of the discipline of architecture by seeking to develop in its students both a broad range of methods and the strength of an individual approach. By overlaying an awareness of architectural heritage with experimental and forward-facing perspectives, Unit History & transformation seek to provide our students with the competence and individuality necessary to realize architecture of the highest quality. Our teaching and research combine theory and practice in a studio-based environment that reflects interdisciplinarity and a close bond to architectural practice.

The Institute hosts the Oslo Centre for Critical Architectural Studies (OCCAS), where our PhD students’ work are embedded in current research projects. We offer two post-professional masters in preservation: MARV, as well as a the Nordic NORDMAK MA program.

The Subject Matter studio seeks to reexamine the role that materials can play in architectural design. Through a study of the materials’ provenance, we study the path that materials take from findspot to construction and reuse, and the ways that these passages are reflected in architecture. Our central tenet is that materials are in constant transformation.
