About the Unit History & Transformation
The Institute of Architecture acknowledges the fundamental diversity of the discipline of architecture by seeking to develop in its students both a broad range of methods and the strength of an individual approach. By overlaying an awareness of architectural heritage with experimental and forward-facing perspectives, Unit History & transformation seek to provide our students with the competence and individuality necessary to realize architecture of the highest quality. Our teaching and research combine theory and practice in a studio-based environment that reflects interdisciplinarity and a close bond to architectural practice.

The Institute hosts the Oslo Centre for Critical Architectural Studies (OCCAS), where our PhD students’ work are embedded in current research projects. We offer two post-professional masters in preservation: MARV, as well as a the Nordic NORDMAK MA program.

About the position
The Oslo School of Architecture and Design calls for a practising architect for a four year 30% position in architectural transformation, focused on studio teaching every second semester.

The Institute of Architecture holds a central position in the field of building heritage and circular architecture; running master studios, research projects, and offering several PhD-positions. Based on multidisciplinary and critical approaches, building heritage studies span from theory to practice, encompassing design, the history and theory of preservation, technology and materials, as well as heritage policy. Lately we have been focusing on post-war architecture; developing alternative and experimental approaches to preservation. We are looking for an architect with a portfolio that represents an innovative and critical approach to the transformation of existing structures, to co-teach in the Transformation in Practice studio within the frames of the international research project Provenance Projected: Architecture past and Future in the Era of Circularity.

Duties
- Participating in the Transformation in Practice MA studio or its continuation every fall. Most of the teaching will be in the fall semester (two days a week) 
- Participate in a team supervising prediploma and diploma students
- Carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the course leader

Requirements
Applicants must hold a master degree in architecture and document the following:

- Portfolio of high quality, representing a critical architectural practice in the field of transformation 
- Experience teaching design studios
- Interest in architectural history
- A propensity for collaboration
- Excellent written and spoken English

It is desirable that the candidate knows a Scandinavian language.

Terms
The salary for the position is according to code 1009 Assistant Professor (550 000-.662 000 NKR in a 100% position). Standard terms apply for the position. 2% of the salary is deducted for social security fund.
